《寂静就是她的天堂》

I’m a Singapore-based visual artist, and my work explores themes of self-expression, faith, and the pursuit of freedom and ecstasy. Specializing in photography and self-portraiture, I use these mediums to express what words cannot capture—those complex emotions and experiences that are hard to articulate. My ongoing body of work delves into the intersection of personal identity and collective spirituality, drawing inspiration from my lifelong fascination with faith, superstition, gods, idols, and cultural icons.

My art is deeply shaped by my experiences with bipolar disorder and my exploration of the sexual body—both subjects that are central to my practice. These personal struggles become a way for me to confront and communicate raw, unfiltered emotions. I believe art should be a space for authenticity rather than perfection. In my creative process, I embrace spontaneity, capturing moments of inspiration with whatever medium is at hand—whether it’s my phone, a Polaroid, or a professional camera—prioritizing visceral expression over technical precision.

I studied Fine Arts at the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam and Art History at La Salle College of the Arts in Singapore, and my work reflects a deep understanding of cultural narratives and how they intersect with individual experience. Through my photography, I continue to explore and redefine the divine, seeking both personal and collective revelations in the fleeting moments of raw human emotion.

Stuck in pursuit of Gods everywhere.

From a young age, I’ve always had a camera in my hands. Photography serves as my voice, enabling me to express what words cannot. My studio is the vibrant city of Singapore, and my small apartment within it is where my ideas come to life. I create in the moment, guided by a sense of divine inspiration that allows me to shape my own personal mythology. One of my greatest influences is the city’s unique fusion of religious faith and superstition—hidden altars tucked away in back alleys, dedicated to gods from various belief systems, form sacred spaces within the modern urban landscape. This urban mythology mirrors my own artistic practice: for me, Singapore is both an altar and a muse, and my body, like the statues of gods, becomes a medium for the divine.
